: This site is being updated...please pardon our dust. Invisible authors are being listed first, followed by their works, which is truest, we believe to the spirit of the library. Regardless, authors and works can be found by hitting CONTROL+F.
Mr. Brian Quinette, founder and curator of the original Invisible Library, writes: "The Invisible Library is a collection of books that only appear in other books. Within the library's catalog you will find imaginary books, pseudobiblia, artifictions, fabled tomes, libris phantastica, and all manner of books unwritten, unread, unpublished, and unfound." The original Invisible Library was open from sometime in Spring 2001 to Summer of 2006; fortunately, archives of the catalog during that time exist at The Internet Archive Wayback Machine, with its most recent snapshot of the site dating to July 14, 2006.
After making many efforts to contact Mr. Quinette, Fayaway & I decided, with Mr. Quinette's tacit approval, to open a branch in Malibu Lake, CA. Currently housed in the (recently rewallpapered) rec room in the basement of our geodesic dome, we hope to move these invaluable volumes to a more secure facility in the near future.
In August of 2007, I discovered that a Mr. James H. Hay has also archived this wonderful catalog; he is to be commended for his efforts!
Monsieur le_trombone created The Invisible Library, Live Journal Branch on November 10, 2007.
On August 17, 2008, Mr. Ed Park and Mr. Levi Stahl founded their own branch of The Invisible Library.
Please pardon our dust while we get around to italicizing all of the titles.
Also, please note that since the main branch of The Invisible Library is defunct, as of 2007 we will be adding some invisible titles previously catalogued by Mr. Quinette. We will limit ourselves to cataloguing those titles which it is likely we would have found in our own reading. The * symbol next to the contributor's name indicates that this title was first catalogued at the main branch.
Powell's Books, located in Portland, Oregon, but accessible through cyberspace, is our favorite general bookstore, bar none. We believe strongly in supporting independent businesses; for that reason, we are linking to them via the banner below. We also receive a small referral fee for every book bought through this link.
If you have any titles that you think should be added to the catalogue, please contact us.

According to Mr. Bonewits, it is a "Standard Classic of Western Occultism"; it is in fact nothing less than Lovecraft's Necronomicon under its original name.

Not a book: "an artifact...based on the possibility of reviewing...the totality of knowledge acquired during one's life...a spinning dictionary that a person placed on the axis could operate by means of a lever, so that in a very few hours there would pass before his eyes the notions most necessary for life." Contains almost fourteen thousand entries.

Title page includes these words: "Read me, if you dare to read, if you dare to know, if you dare to understand. My book is made up of things not dreamed of by ordinary men and women. It is not for cowards but for the brave, not for slaves but for the free; not for fools, but for those who would become wise. Probatum.
But before you read on, make sure to kiss the book

I Remember Lemuria
|
"Once there was a book called the 'T' book (T for integration, for growth force, energy, etc) which was in rather widespread use up to the time of Christ...But some group feared its influence and it was destroyed, so completely that only the memory of that once infallible book remains, which memory was the father of the bible and all its veneration, including the cross on its cover, the 'T' sign" (footnote by the editor).
